  • CTIA-The Wireless Association® Selects WMC Global to Provide Short Code Management in Latin America

Washington, January 3, 2013—CTIA—The Wireless Association® announces the addition of WMC Global to provide key technology services for its Latin American short code registry. WMC Global, a trusted provider of innovative solutions that deliver digital confidence to the mobile marketplace, brings additional firepower to registry services with their unique ability to develop and manage the backend search and payment transaction functionalities.

By facilitating centralized services for wireless operators, major brands and service providers, the adoption of mobile marketing in Latin America will accelerate since these mobile campaigns are available to nearly 100 percent of the population. In the United States this registry model has enabled the provisioning of nearly 5,000 short codes, running more than 25,000 campaigns and driving revenues estimated between $8-12 billion.

The Latin American short code registry offers five- and six-digit codes, and addresses a long-term need of brands and marketers to create a unified and centralized approach to systematically interact with over the more than 400 million wireless subscribers across 17 Latin American countries.

“By adding WMC Global to the team, the adoption of mobile short codes in Latin America will accelerate as we continue making the process to secure and provision codes for all participants more efficient. As marketers around the world can attest, short codes are an extremely effective and trusted solution to raise brand awareness through customer participation,” said Steve Largent, president and CEO of CTIA. “Exporting the tremendously successful model from the U.S. to Latin America will help support operators and brands eager to establish messaging campaigns in the country, especially for upcoming events such as the Confederations Cup, World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics.”

“By partnering with CTIA, we will be able to address the needs of the growing Latin American short code market,” stated Colin Matthews, CEO of WMC Global. “As the growth of mobile messaging in Latin America continues to outpace many other geographic regions, the short code registry for Latin America will serve the demands for short codes used in advertising, television voting, sweepstakes, mobile coupons or any service through which information needs to be transmitted to and from a large number of users.”

WMC Global to Certify Apps for T-Mobile Mall

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 14, 2011 WMC Global, a provider of innovative mobile data solutions, announced that it will work with T-Mobile USA, Inc. to apply its Mobile App Certification solution for T-Mobile Mall. T-Mobile Mall is the carrier’s digital storefront which highlights interesting and exclusive apps for customers. “WMC Global has the ability to provide a rapid approval process for apps without compromising on our standards for customer experience and security,” commented Venetia Espinoza, Director of Digital Stores and Mobile Payments for T-Mobile USA.

In today’s world of open application storefronts, consumers often bear the risk of downloading an app that may not work on their device or contain malware creating consumer mistrust. The partnership between T-Mobile and WMC Global brings customers peace of mind that apps downloaded from T-Mobile Mall have been checked to validate that they work properly on devices and do not perform malicious activities. For developers, the partnership means a swift approval process for apps submitted for distribution in T-Mobile Mall. Under the partnership terms, WMC Global will verify that every Android app featured in the T-Mobile Mall meets the company’s market-ready criteria.

“We are delighted that T-Mobile has selected us as a mobile app certification provider for its new Android app store,” said Ian Matthews, WMC Global president and COO. “T-Mobile has recognized our ability to perform high-quality certifications while upholding their commitment to ensure a rapid and smooth go-to-market process for developers.”

Sprint and WMC Global Launch New Service
to Help Developers Promote Their Apps

Developers can obtain featured placement for their apps
in Sprint Zone and Android Market's Sprint Tab

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. Nov. 2, 2011 – One of the biggest hurdles developers face in the fast growing Android Market is how to get their application noticed. With the Android Market boasting more than 250,000 apps and more being added every day, developers need to be creative and maybe have a little luck for their app to become the next Angry Birds. To help overcome this challenge, Sprint (NYSE: S) announced today a new program with WMC Global called Place Your Ad which will give developers the opportunity to secure feature placement for their applications.

“Over the years of working with many talented developers, we have heard over and over again how difficult it is to get creative and innovative apps noticed in the marketplace,” said Kevin McGinnis, vice president Product for Sprint. “Sprint is excited to offer developers an opportunity to give their apps feature placement in Sprint Zone or the Sprint Tab through Place Your Ad.”

Sprint Zone and Sprint Tab in the Android Market
Sprint Zone is a free application that makes it easy for Sprint customers to pay bills, manage their account and check voice and data usage right from their device. In addition, Sprint Zone includes a section with suggested applications from the Android Market. Apps within Sprint Zone are updated weekly and an Sprint Zone notification is sent to customers to inform them. Sprint also will be updating the Sprint Tab in the Android Market weekly. This feature tab appears to Sprint customers in the Android Market’s app section. Developers have reported a major increase in downloads when their app is featured in the Sprint Zone and Sprint Tab.

“We’re extremely pleased to work with Sprint in delivering the Place Your Ad technology,” said Robin Thompson, WMC Global chief marketing officer. “This technology truly levels the playing field for developers, allowing them to call attention to their apps at the most critical time, whether it be at launch, around a specific event, or even at a particular time of year.”

Through Place Your Ad, developers can submit bids to obtain prominent placement to market their application in the Sprint Zone and the Sprint Tab in the Android Market. Place Your Ad lets developers control where and when their app is featured in Sprint Zone or the Sprint Tab and how much they want to offer for this placement. Place Your Ad will initially be offered in Sprint Zone and the Sprint Tab with plans to offer additional opportunities in the future. For more information on Place Your Ad and to submit an offer, visit http://developer.sprint.com/placeyourad.

WMC Global and Telstra Renew Mobile Premium Services Compliance Assurance Contract

SYDNEY, 1 September 2011 — WMC Global has renewed its business relationship with Telstra, reinvigorating and extending an alliance whereby the world’s leading provider of digital confidence delivers compliance assurance to the carrier in the Australian mobile premium services (MPS) market. Before 2009, when WMC Global introduced comprehensive in-market monitoring and enforcement in Australia, mobile premium services were associated overwhelmingly with negative customer experiences due to widespread deceptive marketing practices. Such practices exposed carriers to consumer backlash as well as to potential civil, criminal, and regulatory action.

“We’re happy to continue and strengthen our relationship with Telstra,” says Laurent Launay, WMC Global’s director of business development, Asia Pacific. “As the carrier reaffirms its commitment to a positive customer experience with mobile premium services on its network, it ensures that subscribers need not think twice about adopting the next wave of mobile commerce and mobile content services.”

Telstra was one of the first major carriers in Australia to commit to purging the MPS industry of deceptive advertising and service messaging by forging a relationship with WMC Global. Two years later, the Australian MPS market has experienced a major drop in TIO complaints and significant improvement in MPS transparency and content provider compliance with the MPS Industry Code.

WMC Global Launches Performance Placement System™

WASHINGTON, DC, July 10, 2011 — Today, WMC Global announced the launch of its Performance Placement System™ (PPS), a comprehensive platform that enables carriers, app stores, and handset manufacturers to monetize mobile app featured placement opportunities. At the same time, PPS offers developers a promotional vehicle to ensure the commercial success of their mobile apps. Developers compete “auction style” by submitting offers via PPS for featured placement on various media properties, such as app stores and carrier Websites.

“By creating a marketplace for app featured placement, PPS acts as a one-stop shop for developers to differentiate and promote their apps effectively and for carriers, app stores, and handset manufacturers to monetize featured placement without incurring significant overhead,” explains Robin Thompson, WMC Global’s chief marketing officer. “Our system helps developers drive downloads, by giving them a means to take control of featured placement, and it solves our clients’ problem of monetizing these placement opportunities.”

As an additional benefit to clients, PPS operates an efficient process for screening developers and their apps to ensure the apps that win featured placement also meet the carrier or app store owner’s brand, content, and user experience standards. In fact, WMC Global handles all aspects of app developer relationship management, with its expert media analysts—who have been upholding carrier standards among third-party developers for more than five years—performing app testing and approval, developer assistance, and payment collection.

WMC Global Debuts Mobile App Certification Solution

WASHINGTON, DC, May 15, 2011 — WMC Global, the world’s leading provider of innovative solutions that deliver digital confidence in the wireless market, has introduced a comprehensive service for mobile app certification. With the recent influx of mobile apps and app developers, carriers, app stores, and handset manufacturers find ensuring app functionality and best practices compliance increasingly difficult. Although mobile apps offer significant potential for a higher revenue stream, they also bring an ever-expanding danger of decreased consumer and brand protection.

Built on years of product certification and high-volume analysis of independent mobile services, WMC Global’s Mobile App Certification solution enables carriers, app stores, and handset manufacturers to offer developers rapid launch of mobile apps via their market channels—without compromising quality standards, customer privacy and security, and brand association.

As part of WMC Global’s Product Certification Solution Suite, the Mobile App Certification solution also offers options for thorough testing of apps that will be preloaded on wireless devices or that will enjoy high-profile brand association. It provides, as well, scalable, cost-effective portal-driven processes for rapid expansion of app store catalogs.
